December 14, 2020, was the first rollout of vaccinations in Canada against Covid-19. Today 29.2 million Canadians have received 2 doses of the vaccine. We had hoped to celebrate Christmas 2021 with family and friends, but we have 1.84 million Covid cases and now Omicron is in Canada and spreading fast. Omicron first come to light when identified by scientists in South Africa in November of this year as a new variant. Cases of Omicron doubles every 3 days in Ontario.

The best defense is to get the 3rd vaccination shot. In Ontario, effective December 20, all age 18 years and over are eligible for the 3rd shot, 3 months after receiving the 2nd shot. With Omicron variant now established in Canada, large Christmas gatherings are advised against by Health Canada.

It is important, even with the 3rd shot to continue with public health protocols by social distancing, washing hands frequently, and wearing masks whenever indoors. Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season. Let’s hold our fingers crossed for a better 2022.
